Ok, here goes:
this is our first blog. Bear with us. I think for this first post i'd like to introduce the idea(ls) of this blogs.
Who are we? Right now, as authors, we are two people. We are two people who, like you, have limitless potential but are bound to the influences of our social world. We are two beings whose needs to be free of oppression--both institutional and subtle--outweighs our desire for the smooth sailing of privileged life. We believe in a world where women and men are simply people, where white and black simply describe our skin color and not differential incarceration rates, where gender-queer is a valid choice on the Census, and where politician is an historical term.
We are "radical". We are not violent, but we are passionate about our beliefs and that our perspective has a legitimate place in this world. With the exception of a small number of campuses, our views are perceived to be in the severe minority, but we DO exist. And as so many have desired in the past, we insist that our voice--and our presence--be known.
For all of you out there who feel marginalized on campus--be you queer, of color, simply dissatisfied with the neo-liberal, super-moderate or neo-conservative views being espoused by your peers caught in the unending deluge of the media--this is one chance of many to speak up. Comment, send us your info, and please, give us feedback.
Stay radical, and stay tuned!
